The Benefits of Infrared Sauna.
The residents of Finland have enjoyed the benefits of saunas for more than 2,000 years. It later came to the US when Finnish settlers visited in the 1600s, and residents soon recognized the benefits of this therapy. At Ries Wellness, we've decided to add an infrared sauna to our practice. We provide chiropractic care to residents of the Chicago, IL, neighborhoods of Bucktown, Wicker Park, and West Town.
Infrared vs Traditional Sauna
A traditional sauna provides heat to air, which in return heats the body from the outside. An infrared sauna, on the other hand, provides the body heat directly on the inside. The end result is the same, however, the delivery method is different. Since it is easier to breathe in the infrared sauna than in a steam sauna, it may ultimately be more comfortable and allow you to enjoy all of its benefits.
An infrared sauna can be used either before or after chiropractic adjustments. Before treatment, it helps to increase flexibility in the muscles, making chiropractic manipulation more effective. After the chiropractic adjustments, it can relieve any muscle soreness or stiffness that may result from the therapies.
Pain Relief
Research has shown that infrared therapy has a positive effect on both chronic and acute pain. The heat from the interior of the body dilates blood vessels, which improves circulation to muscles and joints that may be hurting. It also increases oxygen and benefits all of the cells within the body. Infrared sauna therapy helps with the treatment of chronic conditions, such as fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and muscle spasms. It has been showed that infrared saunas don’t only relieve chronic pain, but can have a great impact on your emotional being as well.
